What is a Medical Massotherapist: An advanced deep muscular, manual and rehabilitation therapist who is thoroughly trained and educated way beyond the basic/fundamental scope of traditional massage therapy. Therapists have an extensive medical background in human anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, endocrinology, immunology, microbiology, cellular biology, pathologies, medical conditions, professional ethics, pharmacology, medical terminology, contraindications, rehabilitative therapies, assessment and treatment protocols, injuries, traumas, problematic areas, advanced lymphatic drainage and complex lymphedema therapy etc. This comprehensive in-depth education and training teaches therapists to identify and recognize imbalances/ malfunctions within the human body. Most are required basic massage and/or physical/occupational therapy training and advanced medical training equaling 1000+ hours of education /training, intern and extern requirements; including clinical skills and filling /documentation, medical laws, regulations, etc. Therapists work with physicians, are taught how to medically communicate, and correspond with doctors and patients, become part of patients’ medical team; and know when to send patients to their medical doctors if working outside the network. Unlike traditional massage therapists, advanced muscular, manual and rehabilitation therapists are more accepted and recognized by the medical community and insurance companies too. *Those who have experienced this type of therapy notice a HUGE difference right away, their therapy last longer, problematic areas and/or medical conditions are relieved, and is much more detailed and thorough than traditional massage therapy that doesn’t do a 1/16 of what Massotherapy does for clients…
Medical Massotherapy: is a breakthrough method of advanced deep muscular, manual and rehabilitation therapies that are performed for the intent of improving conditions, problematic areas and/or pathologies sometimes diagnosed by a doctor/ physician. Therapist take the highest levels of anatomy and physiology (level 4 -same as doctors/medical students), which provides therapists a deeper understanding and the knowledge of how muscles, nerves, tendons, ligaments connect, work together, what their actions are, where they are located, how they interact with each other etc. Their structure and function: supporting tissues, muscles and nerves etc.; allowing therapist to know how to work with, position and/or move them back into their proper place, e.g. the anatomical locations. Therapy is customized by using a wide variety of deep muscular therapies, modalities of healing, soft tissue manipulation, lymphatic drainage and complex lymphedema therapy, MAT, myofascial release, neuromuscular, myoskeletal alignment, muscular, nerves and movement rehabilitation techniques, AIS techniques, working with gait, static stance, postural analysis, extrinsic muscles, articulations, intrinsic ligaments, etc. Including using physical therapies e.g., ROM, stretching and exercises; and numerous other procedures utilized to focus the treatment based on the individual and/or diagnosed condition. A problem-solution, “fixing,” rehabilitative approach, while working deeply to release muscle knots, chronic issues, unhealed injuries, adhesions, toxins, swelling, lymph flow or constriction, etc. As well as, relaxing patients and reducing their stress, tension, anxiety, and pain. The main goal of a therapist is to work out all problematic areas and to “Set Muscles,” allowing them to stay where they need to be and retain proper memory; because muscles have memory. Working out problematic areas and getting muscles to set helps to keep the body in alignment, moving and functioning properly; as well as the need for less therapy in the long run. Medical Massotherapy teaches therapists how to design and incorporate the right combination of techniques for individual medical conditions, problematic areas, daily aches, chronic situations, edema, discomforts, and pain by using a mass of different techniques, therapies and skills. Including, giving them the innate intuition of knowing where and what needs to be done to help remedy the situation, restore mobility, function etc. Rather than a “robotic” and/ or “repetitious” massage and spa massage approach. A very common misconception is that a person has to have a problem, injury, post-up surgeries, or medical condition in order to receive therapy. Medical Massotherapy is exceptionally beneficial and healing for everyone, whether you have medical conditions, a problematic area, chronic issues, or normal aches and pains and can be preformed on anyone, no matter what the age. It is considered highly preventive healthcare and prevention is one of the best medicines we have. Techniques used offer more overall wellness, benefit patients’ health, increases mobility and flexibility, builds strength, and tones and firms muscles. Keeping muscles worked, in balance, relaxed and moving lymph, releasing of toxins out of the body/muscles are a great for whole body health and wellness. Therapy is always individually based and pressure is always adjusted to patients comfort zone. Therapy can be done by working with patient’s medical doctor(s) or working individually by their selves. Medical Massotherapy is not limited to any particular specific technique, therapy or massages, like most spa massages (Swedish/deep tissue, etc.) are; and therapist look for a “good” hurt while performing therapy and address root causes. Medical Massotherapy truly gives patients greater relief with any aches, pains, chronic issues, and muscular soreness; including, problematic areas, medical conditions, injuries, surgical damage to nerves, tissues, muscles, lymph, etc. As well as, takes place of some physical and occupational therapies, exercises, and helps correct the stereotyping / misconception of “massage” being only for pampering / luxury.
Dr. Renee Hartman has been a therapist for almost 25 years; she works with several “Care Patients,” rehabilitative conditions, surgical tissue, muscle and nerve damage, numerous medical conditions, chronic edema/swelling, pains and problematic areas; among several others’. She evaluates all patients, discusses all patients’ health issues, reads x-rays, speaks to patients’ physicians, etc. and customizes therapy to individual needs. She believes all patients are sent to her for inner healing, pain management, and the alleviation of some chronic situations, and to find, address, and treat root causes. Dr. Hartman works with patients in and outside of her office, makes hospital visits, and does follow-ups with all her patients. She does her absolute best to help all who come for therapy and if she’s not familiar with your current medical situation/condition; she will take it upon herself to research it or take a course or go to a workshop/seminar; in order to help more. She only wants to provide the best possible care to all her patients and will work with all health care professionals for the betterment of mutual patients. Dr. Hartman educates patients on all aspects of health both medically and naturally, however, she will not sway or push a patient into or from any aliments, nor will she go against another therapists or doctors’ area(s) of expertise. Dr. Hartman thinks it is extremely important for all patients to make their own conscious decisions without the impression /swaying of others’ because in the end, it is the patients body and their individual choice!!
