What is Mental Health? It’s the condition of being sound mentally and emotionally that is characterized by the absence of mental disorder (as neurosis or psychosis).
Healthy Mental Health: feeling comfortable about oneself, having positive feelings about others and oneself, and a person has the ability to meet the demands of life calmly with no stressors, worry, anxiety etc.
Mental disorders are health conditions that are characterized by alterations in thinking, mood, or behavior (or some combination thereof) that are associated with distress and/or impaired functioning.” This notion of a continuum sees mental health on one end as ‘successful mental functioning’ compared to mental illness on the other end as ‘impaired functioning.’
Signs and symptoms of mental illness can vary, depending on the particular disorder, circumstances, and other factors. Mental illness symptoms can affect emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.
Sometimes symptoms of a mental health disorder appear as physical problems, such as stomach pain, back pain, headache, or other unexplained aches and pains; including the development of some cancers.
Emotional problems and mental illnesses can be treated in a variety of ways, including psychotherapy, medication, or physical treatments. Psychotherapy, or “talking therapy,” is an effective and commonly prescribed method of treatment for mild to moderate cases of emotional and mental disorders. In more severe cases, psychotherapy is used in combination with medication or physical treatments.
The Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT, is the psychological acupressure technique I routinely use in my practice and most highly recommend to optimize your emotional health. Although it is still often overlooked, emotional health is absolutely essential to your physical health and healing, – no matter how devoted you are to the proper diet and lifestyle, you will not achieve your body’s ideal healing and preventative powers if emotional barriers stand in your way. There are several types of emotional release other than EFT, but this is one of my personal favorites ways of helping patients release bottled up emotions from deep within their sub-conscious. EFT is a form of psychological acupressure, based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments for over five thousand.
NEW: Mental /Emotional Scan: All emotions we have are tied to our every thought, perception, feeling, and touch. When we’re hurt, upset, experiencing a loss or betrayal etc. we end up with negative emotions due to these. Doing the emotional scan helps you to RELEASE these negative thoughts, perceptions, feelings, emotions etc. Allowing us to let go and move on from whatever has held us back, even the ones we barred deep within our subconscious. The more you scan the better you become and the less you will hold onto negative emotions, thoughts, perceptions, feelings, touches etc. in life; including being able to handle negative stressors much easier. Holding on to negativeness only creates illness, medical conditions, cancer etc. It’s time to Let It Go and Give it to God but FOR GOOD! We ALL try to do this on our own, with counselors, pastors etc. sometimes it works and helps us – but most of the time we did not release or have a dynamic shift in our session that changed our negative perceptions, feelings, emotions and thoughts. The scan is designed to do just that – help us to release and if needed have a dynamic shift. No one person is the same, everything we experience in life is different for everyone; if you are struggling, stuck in life, been bullied, hurt etc. don’t you think it’s TIME to Let it Go??
