Summer Hours in June: Mon, Tues, & Wed - 10 to 2pmSummer Hours Start May 30th - Aug 8th 2017
What Does Nutritional /Dietary Consults consist of?
Initial consult consists of having a food scan done and discussion over results, answering any questions patients may have and explaining how to implement the results of the food scan into your daily diet and is up to 75mins long due to food scan.
The next several appointments are $75 for 1 hr sessions and will be then going over diet and nutrition: Example below:
Dr. Hartman’s protocol for the 1hr nutritional consults:
1st appointment: patients get a logbook with instructions on how to use it. They will ask any questions about nutrition, where or what they are struggling with, i.e. how to use recipes. Dr. Hartman will explain what is needed daily, give suggestions for foods, snacks etc. Patients will keep a log history of everything they do.
2nd appointment: consists of going over the logbook, answering any questions from the previous week. Discussion of serving sizes, how often to eat; including what foods are best for to eat etc.
3rd appointment: Answering any questions from the previous appointment and going over logbook. If a child is present, they will get a logbook and instructions on how to use it. Dr. Hartman will then show how to incorporate foods into daily schedules. Making healthy choices when with friends, on vacation, at the pool, going out to eat etc. Patients then get an assignment to do.
4th appointment: Going over logbook(s) and discussing the results of the assignment, items used and answering any questions about the assignment, serving sizes of foods etc. Patients will then be given another assignment to complete.
5th appointment: Going over logbook(s) and discussing the results of second assignment. This is the patients time to go over everything, ask any other questions they still may not completely understand etc.; and to make additional appointments if needed.
Summary: Each appointment after will be related to whatever the patient needs more clarification on. Most patients do 5 to 10 appointments (sometimes more) before they go completely on their own. However, a second food scan will need to be done within a few months of the first initial appointment. This way if anything changes, patients will have had the nutritional education and practice and be familiar enough to understand how to make healthy changes and/or incorporate new items into their diet. When you become aware of what you’re eating, knowing who to prepare and portion out food, what foods are needed in the diet daily to eat and what foods stay away from etc. is key to a healthy lifestyle. In the process you may lose weight, gain muscle mass (lean muscles) and/or feel great over all. This is part of obtaining optimal health! Slowly changing your diet/habits has a “domino effect” on the family and before you realize it, your family is reaping the benefits of the program too! The $75 session for up to 75mins seems like a super short time for everything that will be covered, but as long as patients stay on topic, all questions and concerns will be answered and addressed.
Dr. Renee Hartman’s nutritional program uses real foods! Sorry no magic pills, shakes or starving of any kind here! Dr. Hartman wants patients to EAT sensible and do light exercise –The ONLY real way to lose weight and keep it off! You have to do the work if you want results! It is not hard, you will NOT be hungry, and you exercise 30mins 5 days a week. However, it DOES take you doing your part, eating according to the plans, following the plan, and sticking with it.
